4 Choir VSTs I Couldn't Live Without

4 Choir VSTs I Couldn't Live Without

I've tried a ridiculous number of choir plugins and vocal libraries over the years, but there are a handful I keep coming back to.

These aren't necessarily four plugins trying to do exactly the same thing either. Some are made for huge cinematic choirs, while others are better for atmospheric vocals, beats and more modern productions.

My Favourite Choir VST Plugins

1. Choir: Omnia – Native Instruments

If I need that huge, realistic cinematic choir sound, Omnia is one of the first libraries I think of.

It features a 40-piece choir split into soprano, alto, tenor and bass sections, with everything from softer performances through to massive full-throated vocals.

The Syllabuilder is one of the things that really makes it stand out because you can create your own sequences from different syllables instead of being stuck with basic sustained vowels.

2. Requiem Professional – 8Dio

Requiem Professional is another one for when you want things to sound properly epic.

It was recorded in a cathedral and includes full choir performances, separate male and female sections, solo singers, true legato, Latin chants, phrases and a massive collection of more unusual vocal effects.

For darker cinematic music, trailers, orchestral tracks or anything that needs a dramatic choir, this one still sounds massive.

3. Dixon's Choir

Okay, I'm obviously slightly biased with this one 😂

I made Dixon's Choir because I wanted something much quicker and simpler to use when I just needed choir sounds inside a normal production without loading a giant cinematic library.

You've got several different vowel and vocal textures, ADSR controls, filtering and built-in convolution reverb, so it's really easy to shape it for beats, cinematic melodies, intros and darker productions.

4. Moments: Vocal Clouds – Native Instruments

Vocal Clouds is probably the least traditional choir library on this list — and that's exactly why I like it.

Instead of trying to recreate a normal orchestral choir, it's built around four independent vocal layers that create evolving, moving vocal textures from simple chords.

You can combine soprano, alto, tenor, bass and synth-based layers with rhythmic movement, arpeggiators and modulation to create everything from soft atmospheric vocals to huge cinematic soundscapes.

I really like this one when I want something vocal without immediately sounding like I've just loaded a traditional choir library.
