The Best New FREE Plugins

This week’s free plugin roundup has some really interesting stuff in it — weird instruments, cinematic sounds, creative FX, free Kontakt libraries and a few plugins that look way too good to be free.

As usual, I’ve gone through the latest freebies so you don’t have to spend three hours downloading things you’ll never open again.

1. Luch by Moloko Instruments

Luch is a free sampled instrument based on a Soviet-era children’s metallophone, recorded through vintage Oktava microphones and old hardware from the same era.

It has that fragile, imperfect, slightly haunted sound that works really well for ambient music, cinematic ideas, textures, intros and anything that needs a bit of character.

2. TugPhonon

TugPhonon is a free vintage-style rotating tape delay plugin inspired by old experimental delay machines. It is not just a normal clean delay — this one is more for weird movement, texture, pitchy repeats and experimental sound design.

Definitely one for people who like delays that feel slightly broken in a good way.

3. Elysion Elements by Sonuscore

Elysion Elements is a free hybrid synth library for Kontakt Player. It gives you cinematic pads, pulses, hits and animated textures from the Elysion universe, with the full effects engine, arps, envelopes and mixer included.

This is a good one for scoring, trailers, intros, ambient music and anything that needs a bit of cinematic movement.

4. Runa: Free Edition by Wavelet Audio

Runa: Free Edition is a free cinematic string instrument for Kontakt Player, inspired by an ancient Central Asian stringed instrument called the Kobyz.

It has a raw, haunting sound that should be perfect for dark melodies, drones, film-score moments and emotional intros. Basically, not the kind of freebie you expect to just casually exist.

5. Native Instruments Super 8 (Superstar Saw)

Native Instruments are offering the Superstar Saw expansion for Super 8, a vintage-inspired polyphonic synth. This pack focuses on classic supersaw-style sounds, giving you lush leads, wide pads and stacked synth textures that are perfect for electronic music.

If you’re into big, wide synth sounds for EDM, trance or modern pop production, this is definitely worth checking out.

6. CURVA by Sugoi Audio

CURVA is a free movement and coloration effect that lets you draw motion across the stereo field. It can pan, brighten and pitch-glide your sound all at once, which makes it great for transitions, vocals, synths, drums, pads and weird FX movement.

It is also football-inspired, which is probably one of the strangest plugin concepts I’ve seen recently — but somehow it actually makes it fun to use.

7. UJAM UFX LOFI

UJAM are offering UFX LOFI for free when you sign up through their campaign page. It’s a lo-fi effect plugin, so expect the usual dusty, wobbly, imperfect flavour that works well on drums, keys, samples and melodies.
