The Best New FREE VST Plugins & Deals

Another week, another load of free plugins I probably didn’t need to download — but this week there are actually some massive ones.

We’ve got a new free synth from Arturia, experimental synthesis, free effects, classic VSTs returning from the dead, a free piano and some huge plugin deals.

1. Pigments Play by Arturia

Arturia has released Pigments Play, a completely free synth powered by its flagship Pigments instrument.

It comes with 100 presets and gives you access to sounds built using six different synthesis types, loads of filter modes and effects, but with a simplified interface designed to make it quick to actually make music.

There are keys, pads, basses, sequences and leads covering everything from house and drum & bass to trap, pop and ambient music.

2. OA-Phosphor-1 by OA Labs

OA-Phosphor-1 is a free synth built around one slightly unusual idea — making instability and unpredictability musical.

It has an aging engine, chaos modulation, morphing filters, a generative arpeggiator, waveshaping, two oscillators and a dedicated sub oscillator.

It’s currently available free for Mac in AU and VST3, with the Windows version still being tested.

3. 2B Delayed Classic

2B Delayed Classic is a creative stereo delay with independent left and right delay times alongside filtering, distortion, reverb and feedback controls.

You can use it for everything from simple stereo echoes to much more mangled effects on vocals, synths, guitars and drums.

4. Plugin Boutique Summer Bundle

There are big discounts across synths, effects and production tools from loads of different developers, including some ridiculous reductions on classic plugins.

7. Steinberg Classics – 5 FREE VST Plugins

To celebrate 30 years of VST, Steinberg has brought back five classic plugins as a free collection.

The collection includes Neon, CS-40, Karlette, VB1 and LM7 — giving you a proper look back at some of the earliest software instruments and effects from the history of VST.

Are they going to replace every modern plugin in your folder? Probably not. Are they cool to have 30 years later? Definitely.

8. FREE Pianoverse Black Pearl B200 by IK Multimedia

IK Multimedia is currently giving away Pianoverse Black Pearl B200 when you subscribe to its newsletter.

Black Pearl is inspired by a Bösendorfer 214VC Vienna Concert Grand and includes the full Pianoverse engine with different spaces, cinematic effects, microphone perspectives and detailed piano controls.
